JACK RADICS JOINS CARLOS SANTANA, JOHN LEGEND,CHRIS ROCK, DANNY GLOVER AND OTHERS, FOR THE HARRY BELAFONTE’S “MANY RIVERS TO CROSS” MUSIC AND ARTS FESTIVAL, OCTOBER 1-2!

Platinum selling Jamaican recording artist Jack Radics has been added to a stellar lineup of performers who will headline Harry Belafonte’s   ‘Many Rivers To Cross’  Music and Arts Festival on October 1- 2. The festival will be held in Chattahoochee Hills, Georgia, and will promote advocacy and awareness of social justice issues. Radics will join fellow musicians Carlos Santana, John Legend and Common along with actors Jamie Foxx, Jesse Williams, Danny Glover and Chris Rock for the eagerly anticipated event. Others slated to appear include T.I., Dave Matthews, Mackelmore, Public Enemy, Esperanza Spalding, Goapele, Dr Cornel West and Jussie Smollett of Fox TV’s Empire, with more artists scheduled to be confirmed at a later date. HARRY BELAFONTE HONORED BY PRINCETON UNIVERSITY!

By Shereita Grizzle— Harry Belafonte— On Tuesday, June 2, singer, actor, and social activist Harry Belafonte was given an honorary Doctor of Laws degree by the prestigious Princeton University at their annual graduation ceremony. Belafonte was among six officials honored at the university’s commencement ceremony. VETERAN SONGWRITER IRVING BURGIE HONORED BY THE CARIBBEAN AMERICAN HERITAGE MONTH ASSOCIATION!

  Irving Burgie— IRVING Burgie, the celebrated American songwriter who helped put Caribbean music on the map, was honoured Wednesday evening by organisers of Caribbean American Heritage Month. The ceremony took place in New York City. The New York-born Burgie (whose mother is Barbadian) was presented with a commendation, acknowledging his contributions to the Civil Rights movement, his career as a composer and for years of community work in his hometown, Brooklyn. He received the award from City Comptroller Scott Springer. Burgie wrote classic songs such as Jamaica Farewell and Day-O, Harry Belafonte’s signature songs. The latter is from Belafonte’s groundbreaking 1956 Calypso! album, the first album to sell over one million units.
