The VP Records set, which was released last July, sold an additional 434 copies over the past week, bringing its total to 17,442 copies. The Cure sold 82 copies the previous week, and its surge reflects a more than 300 per cent increase. Nominees are The Cure by Jah Cure (VP Records); Branches of The Same Tree by Rocky Dawuni (Cumbancha Records); Acousticalevy by Barrington Levy (Doctor Dread Presents); Zion Awake by Luciano (VP Records); and Strictly Roots by Morgan Heritage (CTBC Music Group). PRODUCER FLAVA McGREGOR CONFIRMS HIS RIGHTS TO RELEASE JAH CURE’S “MASTERPIECE” ALBUM!

Reggae Producer Kemar “Flava” McGregor has issued statements in social media outlets, Sunday, affirming his legal right to release an LP containing songs from reggae singer Jah Cure. McGregor’s statements were a response to Jah Cure’s allegations that the LP was “fake,” and to the singer’s urging of fans not to buy the album. McGregor has produced several songs with Jah Cure, and recently released re-mastered versions of the songs from the recording sessions as an LP, titled “Masterpiece.” The LP was released Friday, January 22, 2016 on iTunes, Amazon and Spotify. Jah Cure stated in a Twitter post, published January 29, 2016, that McGregor released a “fake album,” and posted the words “please don’t buy” in reference to this album. By K’Shema Francis—   Grammy nominated entertainer Jah Cure has blasted producer Kemar ‘Flava’ McGregor on his official Instagram page stating that he should stop exploiting reggae artist. After Jah Cure received a Grammy nomination for his album The Cure which currently sits in the number 1 position on the Billboard Top reggae albums chart – Flava McGregor is using the platform to advertise another album. Jah Cure through his Instagram has issued a warning to Flava urging him to stop. LAWYER GLORIA DE CLOU, ADVISES ARTISTS TO “READ THE FINE PRINT!”

 Gloria De Clou— LAST year, some well-known Jamaican artists ended up in Trinidad’s courts for breaching contracts with show promoters in that country. It cost the artists, Anthony B, Jah Cure and Busy Signal, a pretty penny. Gloria De Clou, a Kingston attorney, says entertainers should be more responsible when it comes to dealing with contractual matters. “They need legal advice. They need proper advice before they sign any document,” she told the Jamaica Observer. De Clou, who is from Guyana, has been a general practitioner for 10 years. She worked in the attorney general’s office before going into private practice.She has advised several Jamaican artists including Carl Dawkins as well as Kingston Music Institute, a management company out of Canada.  Jah Cure—- Jah Cure made his share of headlines this year. He had a court case in Trinidad and there were stories of a split from his wife. On Monday, the 37-year-old singer was in the news again – this time for more positive developments. His album, The Cure, is one of five nominees for Best Reggae Album at the 2016 Grammy Awards. “Is a privilege; I would say is the highest achievement of mi career.
