KEN BOOTHE REMEMBERS HIS FRIEND AND COLLEAGUE JOHN HOTL!

ALTON Ellis, John Holt, Delroy Wilson and Ken Boothe are generally regarded as the greatest rock steady singers. With Holt’s death, Boothe is the last man standing in that quartet. Yesterday, Boothe remembered Holt for more than just his hit songs. “He was very humorus. He was fun to be around. He reminds me so much of Gregory Isaacs,” he said. JOHN HOLT TO BE BURIED IN JAMAICA!

TEX Gallimore, nephew of John Holt, says the singer will be buried in Jamaica. He told the Jamaica Observer yesterday that arrangements are being made for his uncle’s body to be flown home. Holt died Monday morning (England time) from cancer at age 69. “He will be buried in Jamaica. We are currently in negotiations re getting his body,” Gallimore said. Gallimore, who was also Holt’s road manager, said his family is “coping, taking it one day at a time. The ‘doc’ made it clear there was no hope. For those two days although we were very upset, we had to be strong till the journey is over”. On Sunday, singer John Holt passed away at the Wellington Hospital, StJohn’s Wood, London. He was 69 years old. Among the many hit songs in Holt’s extensive catalogue are The Tide is High, On the Beach, Wear You to the Ball, Stick By Me, Police in Helicopter, Tribal War (first done by Little Roy), Wildfire (a duet with the late Dennis Brown), If I Were a Carpenter, Ali Baba, and A Love I Can Feel.    John Holt—- Veteran Jamaican reggae singer John Holt died in a London hospital on Sunday. He was 69. Copeland Forbes, Holt’s manager since 2006, confirmed the entertainer’s passing. “John died at 2:40 am English time. His [John’s] nephew informed of his death,” Forbes told OBSERVER ONLINE. Singer John Holt—- Curtis Campbell– The Chairman of the Jamaica Association of Vintage Artists and Affiliates (JAVAA), Frankie Campbell, is wishing singer John Holt a speedy and lasting recovery, following his recent collapse onstage at the One Love Festival in Springfield in the United Kingdom. Campbell told The Sunday Gleaner that the I Want A Love I Can Feel singer did an operation last month and was, perhaps, back in action too early. “I just think he went back to performing too early.
