JUNIOR REID TRIUMPHANTLY RETURNS TO LONDON AFTER TEN YEARS!

 Junior Reid performs ‘Foreign Mind’— When Junior Reid appeared on the Legends Of Reggae shows at the O2 venues in the United Kingdom late last month, it was the first time in 10 years since the singer performed in that country. PATRICK “THRILLY” REID, OLDER BROTHER TO JUNIOR REID, DIES AT 55!

 Junior Reid— Patrick Sutherland Reid, older brother of singer Junior Reid and a key member of his JR Productions, died last Tuesday. Popularly known as ‘Thrilly’, he died from complications of hypertension at Medical Associates in Kingston at age 55. “Is a great loss, Thrilly was mi bes’ friend. Somebody mi coulda always talk to,” Reid told the Jamaica Observer .Raised in the Waterhouse area of Kingston, Thrilly Reid was also an independent producer who worked with artistes from his community. He is the second of Reid’s brother to die. Their younger sibling, Leighton ‘Grammy’ Reid, passed away several years ago. Patrick Sutherland ‘Thrilly’ Reid is survived by 11 children and eight grandchildren. His funeral service is scheduled for May 15 at a location to be announced. … Read entire article »

JUNIOR REID REPORTEDLY PULLED GUN AND ASSAULTED A SOUND SYSTEM SELECTOR, FOR NOT PLAYING HIS SONG!

Junior Reid could be facing some legal troubles after assaulting a sound system selector/disc jockey for not playing his music. Sources told us that Reid and his entourage turned up at a dancehall session where DJ Wessy Wessy was playing and asked him to play one of his new songs. The DJ refused to play the song and that resulted in a heated argument between himself and the veteran reggae singer. Sources say Junior Reid pulled a gun and assaulted the disc jockey before leaving the venue. JUNIOR REID HEADLINES “DUBAI REGGAE FESTIVAL” FOR NOVEMBER 7!

   Junior Reid– ROOTS singer Junior Reid is the headliner for the inaugural Dubai Reggae Festival which takes place on November 7 in the oil-rich city. Reid will launch his Junior Reid: The Living Legend album two days before the event. Singer Wayne Wonder, who has previously performed in Dubai on the popular Reggae Beachfest shows, is also confirmed for the festival. So too Barbadian soca artist Rupee, Jamaican deejay Rasta Rocket, and Kriss Darling of Kenya, one of Africa’s leading reggae acts. DJ Justin (Justin Morin), a Jamaican sound system selector who lives in Dubai, is also part of the festival. JUNIOR REID RECALLS THE INSPIRATION FOR “ONE BLOOD!”

   By Howard Campbell—  Junior Reid— SINCE leaving Black Uhuru in 1985, Junior Reid had spent considerable time out of Jamaica and had not had a massive hit song in his homeland during that period. He broke that drought with One Blood. The 1990 cry for unity among warring factions throughout the world has become his signature, winning him fans among a new generation of dancehall and hip hop diehards. One Blood has been sampled by hip hop acts like Wu Tang Clan and The Game, and is a rallying cry for ghetto youth in Jamaica. “One Blood a reggae anthem, nuh matter wha’ nobody waan sey.
