THE WARRIOR LOVE BAND STILL UPSET BY THE ABUSE HANDED DOWN BY LEROY SMART!

By Simone Morgan—-  Warrior Love Band— BASSIST and leader of the Warrior Love Band, Joseph Graham, said he and his colleagues are disappointed with the behaviour of singer Leroy Smart at the recent Rebel Salute show. He told the Jamaica Observer that it was the first time they had been abused by an artiste on stage. “Leroy ‘Don’ Smart was booed at Rebel Salute because, to put it mildly, his performance was lacking and he repeatedly disrespected the band throughout this performance,” Graham said. He disclosed that the veteran singer was slated to rehearse with the band but did not show up. “After we left the rehearsal studio, Leroy called me to say he is no longer performing at Rebel Salute so we should not rehearse his songs. GREAT PERFORMANCES CLOSE REBEL SALUTE 2015!

By Simone Morgan—-  Sizzla & (in the inset) Luciano—– REBEL Salute ended on a high note at Richmond Estate in St Ann yesterday morning. Patrons left the two-day festival musically satisfied. Reggae harmony trio Mighty Diamonds showed exactly what made them hot during the 1970s and ’80s with a well-received set. Their vocals were flawless and sounded no different from their recordings when they belted out the lyrics to Have Mercy, Pass the Kouchie, I Need a Roof and When the Right Time Come. As expected, Freddie McGregor hit his marker on stage and gave his fans a classical set. From the ‘Big Ship’ boss sang his first line, it was evident a lot of rehearsal and preparation went into his set. During his first 15 minutes, McGregor churned out lyrics to old favourites … Read entire article »

Entertainer Freddie McGregor during his performance at Rebel Salute 2015— PRIORY, St Ann – Veteran crooner Freddie McGregor steadied the ship with a pleasing performance after another old-timer, Leroy ‘Don’ Smart, was booed off the stage at Rebel Salute 2015 early Sunday morning. Smart, who failed to get the crowd going, accused the backing band of not rehearsing his songs. Impatient with the veteran singer, the patrons booed him as he was about to leave the stage. The ‘Don’ made a roundabout turn on stage and was about to take the mic from the emcee, but the patrons would have none of it as the boos got louder. On the other hand, patrons cheered for the Big Ship singer who earned an encore. McGregor did songs like Push Come to Shove, Stop Loving You, To Be … Read entire article »
