MINISTER MARION HALL CAME, SAW, AND CONQUERED REBEL SALUTE 2017!

Lady Saw delivering her set on Rebel Salute’s opening night in St Ann on Friday. (Photo: Karl McLarty) JUST over a year ago she stunned many by quitting popular music, becoming a Christian and, by extension, a gospel act. On Friday night she returned to the local stage and threw down one of the evening’s strongest performances at Rebel Salute held at Grizzly’s Plantation in Priory, St Ann. Minister Marion Hall, formerly Lady Saw, delivered a testimony that was both moving and entertaining. She has not lost the energy and vibe she brought to global stages for more than 20 years, with the major difference being her lyrical content. Hall opened with her song I’m Still Standing, which she dedicated to broken women. “It’s been a year since I changed my life. A lot of … Read entire article »

By Mel Cooke— Ian Allen Moses Davis, aka Beenie Man.— Marion Hall has preformed on Rebel Salute in 2010, when the event was held at the Port Kaiser sports field in St Elizabeth. Then, Lady Saw was presenting an alternative – specific to the performance – to her well-established ultra-raunchy performing personality. She returns to Rebel Salute on Friday as Marion Hall yet again, but this time around, there is no Lady Saw – a persona the deejay shed with her conversion to Christianity in 2015 – for a few fans to want a flash of. There is even an addition to her name, as she is listed as Minister Marion Hall. Other performers identified by their ‘passport names’ on the poster for Rebel Salute 2017, slated for this Friday and Saturday at Grizzly’s Plantation Cove, … Read entire article »

I was there for the first time in October 2000, to cover the MLS fifth season finals between the Chicago Fire and the Kansas City Wizards at the RFK Stadium, satisfying another passion, sports. At that time I was an account executive/sports editor for … Read entire article »
