VINTAGE SHOW “STARTIME” HEADS TO CLARENDON, JULY 2!

 A section of the audience at Startime held at Mas Camp in St Andrew. Clarendon, which produced several artists who figured prominently in the early years of Jamaican music, hosts the second Startime show of the year. The event will be held at The Verandah, Clarendon Park, in May Pen on July 2. Headliners are the artists who performed on January’s pipe-opener at Mas Camp in Kingston. They are Marcia Griffiths, Leroy Sibbles, Errol Dunkley, Horace Andy, Dillinger, The Mighty Diamonds, Frankie Paul, and Johnny Clarke. HEINEKEN STARTIME CONCERT SERIES TO RETURN WITH NEW NAME IN JANUARY!

 Michael Barnett— Startime, the live show credited with sparking the rocksteady revival of the 1990s, returns in early January. Michael Barnett, who started the event as Heineken Startime in June 1988, told the Jamaica Observer that details of the show will be announced soon. Startime was last held in September 2013 at Mas Camp in Kingston. “Since Startime ended as an annual series of concerts in 2007, vintage artistes and musicians really have no platform in Jamaica to consistently expose their music, stage craft and talents …. and they still have a major role to play in the big picture,” said Barnett.
