According Frass Out, Birch both copied his rhythm and stole the name. RADIO JOCK NIKKI Z REPORTEDLY HEADING TO KINGSTON’S FAME FM!

 Nikki Z— RADIO personality Nikki Z is heading to Fame FM. According to a Jamaica Observer source, who requested anonymity, the radio disc jock will make the move later this month. Fame FM is a radio brand under the RJR Communications Group. “She’ll work the 5:00 am to 9:00 am shift,” the source said. Nikki Z (given name Nicole Duhaney) would neither confirm nor deny the move. Up to a few weeks ago, however, she hosted the weekday morning programme called The Mawning Show at Hot 102 FM. A former member of the US Army, she also did a three-year stint at ZIP 103 FM. She started her own imprint, Goldie Lox Productions, and produced the hit single Don’t Cry by Mavado. The single was featured on his Billboard charting album Gangsta for Life. Last Tuesday, the singer delivered another memorable performance as she belted out the lyrics to Meghan Trainor’s popular hit All About That Bass. Not only did she do justice to the song, but a reggae twist to the original version and a few saucy dance moves had the live studio audience totally captivated. TV’S “DANCEHALL’S GOT TALENT” COMES TO NEW YORK CITY!

  By Cecelia Campbell-Livingston— Nikki Z to host upcoming talent show. Production on Dancehall’s Got Talent, a new television show scheduled to air in October, starts Friday in New York City. It will be broadcast on OmniPresent Media and OPM Digital Network. The show’s publicist, Malaika Lepine, says its objective is to expose new talent. “It gives opportunities for upcoming talent to really showcase and represent their culture in a way all reggae and dancehall music lovers can enjoy.” The 18-episode series will be hosted by Nicole ‘Nikki Z’ Duhaney. There are three judges: singer Ed Robinson, Irie Jam Radio’s DJ Roy and fashion personality Dougie Platinum. Dancehall’s Got Talent was created by LA Wright and Kevin Beswick who are also executive producers along with Irie Jam’s Bobby Clarke. AS YOUNG ARTISTS BEGIN TO OPEN NEW DOORS, DANCEHALL MUSIC MAY RISE AGAIN!

OMI—- With Samantha J and OMI getting record deals abroad and songs from Jamaican acts being sampled internationally, it seems reggae and dancehall are poised to rise again on the world market. Earlier this year, Samantha J signed a record deal with Colombia Records, while OMI inked a deal with Ultra Music that will see him working with international label Sony Music Entertainment. Aidonia and Bounty Killer were recently featured on Will.i.am’s It’s My Birthday. Last year, Jamaican acts like Popcaan and Capleton were sampled on Kanye West’s Yeezus album, while Assassin was featured in a song on the album. Christopher Martin, Jimmy Cliff and Terror Fabulous were recently sampled by Jim Jones, B.O.B and Ace Hood, respectively.
