CHRONIXX, JAH CURE, DUANE STEPHENSON, STEEL PULSE AND RAGING FYAH AMONG OTHERS, HEAD TO “REGGAE GEEL” IN BELGIUM, AUGUST 4-5!

 Chronixx (Michael Gordon) A strong Jamaican contingent has been announced for this year’s staging of Reggae Geel in Belgium on August 4 and 5. Reggae Geel is one of the oldest reggae festivals in Europe, and this year will mark its 39th edition. More than 70 acts are down to take the stage over the two days, with a high concentration of local acts set to perform. Among the artists advertised for the festival are Jah Cure, Steel Pulse, Duane Stephenson, Christopher Martin, Chronixx, Raging Fyah, Jesse Royal, Runkus, Chevaughn, Notis Heavyweight Rockaz, Royal Blu, Blvk H3ro and Hempress Sativa. This is reflected in the latest Billboard Reggae Album chart. According to sales monitor Nielsen Music, Ziggy Marley’s self-titled set, which won the award, posted the biggest sales, jumping from 23 to number eight. THE NATIONAL DANCE THEATER COMPANY (NDTC) TO PAY HOMAGE TO BERES HAMMOND, JULY 22 – AUGUST 14!

Court of Jah, choreographed by the late Rex Nettleford, was among the early examples and focused on the work of Bob Marley. He followed up with Tribute to Cliff, which was performed to tracks Many Rivers To Cross, Sitting In Limbo and other tracks by Jimmy Cliff. Dancehall music would make it into the NDTC’s repertoire with Bujurama which showcased the music of deejay Buju Banton. Come July 22 to August 14, the NDTC will mount its 54th season of performance.
