AMERICAN ARTISTS CONTINUE TO DOMINATE BILLBOARD REGGAE CHART!

 Rebel Souljahz.— AMERICAN artists continue to dominate the Billboard Reggae Album chart. They occupy more than half the top 15 positions on the weekly table. Leading the pack at number one is Common Kings with Lost In Paradise. This is the California band’s third week in pole position. New at number two is Hawaiian quartet Rebel Souljahz with their third studio effort 4 The People. This is their third entry on the Billboard reggae table, having peaked at number two in 2008 with Nothing to Hide and number five with 2009’s Bring Back The Days. JEREME MORGAN (GRAMPS’ SON) MAKES THE BILLBOARD CHART WITH HIS DEBUT ALBUM “TRANSITION!”

BY KEVIN JACKSON—  Jemere Morgan.— Jemere Morgan, son of Morgan Heritage member Gramps Morgan, makes his debut on the Billboard Reggae album chart this week. His debut album Transition enters at number four. Transition, released on January 6 via Dada Son Entertainment, contains 17 tracks. It also includes collaborations with Toian (Bang Bang); Agent Sasco (Neighbourhood Girls remix); J Boog (Shakers and Movers); Ghanaian dancehall artist Soundbwoy (A.C.B.) and Jo Mersa Marley (Shouldn’t Have). His father, Gramps, is featured on the tracks Try Jah Love and Celebrate Life. Born in Brooklyn, New York, Morgan moved to Jamaica at age one. He relocated to the United States at eight. AMERICAN DUO, TWENTY-ONE PILOTS, IS GLOBALLY FLYING HIGH WITH ITS REGGAE SONG “RIDE!”

Ride, by American duo Twenty-One Pilots, is currently number six on the Billboard Hot 100 Chart. Ride is taken from Blurryface, their fourth album, which was released in 2015. The set has so far sold 1.1 million copies in the United States. Ride is produced by American Ricky Reed, the man behind Talk Dirty and Wiggle by Haitian/American singer Jason Derulo; Lunchmoney Lewis’ Bills (Lewis is the son of Inner Circle bassist Ian Lewis); and Virgin Islands duo R City’s Take You Down. REBELUTION’S “COUNT ME IN ACOUSTIC” MAKES NO.1 ON BILLBOARD REGGAE CHART!

  By Kevin Jackson—  Rebelution— FOLLOWING the success of its fourth studio album, Count Me In, journeyman reggae band Rebelution recently released its unplugged version, Count Me In Acoustic. It debuted at number one on the Billboard Reggae Album Chart with 860 copies sold in its first week. Eric Rachmany, the group’s lead vocalist and guitarist, said sales are not an important factor for he and his colleagues. “We enjoy playing acoustically and wanted to release different versions of the songs with the hope that somebody may enjoy it. We also wanted to be able to donate a portion of the sales to certain organisations we support, and shine some light on these organisations we believe in,” he said in an interview with the Sunday Observer.
