SINGER SHUGA AND HER MANAGER DONOVAN GERMAIN, HAVE PARTED WAYS!

By Curtis Campbell Shuga  Former Digicel Rising Stars winner Shuga has severed ties with manager Donovan Germain after seven years. According to the artist, she is grateful for his contribution to her career, however, the decision was inevitable. “He was a great manager, he is my father, and my foundation, but it is time to move out and move forward right now. I am just doing me right now,” she said. When contacted by The STAR Donovan Germain said he holds no grudges against Shuga. “There is no situation, people go from label when they see it fit. SHUGA RIDES THE REGGAE TRAIN ACROSS THE GLOBE!

By Kimberley Small— Mitzie Campbell, more popularly known as Shuga, has embraced the opportunities that came with winning Rising Stars in 2009. Immediately after pocketing the cash prize and putting the trophy in her house, Shuga began working with Penthouse Records. She told THE WEEKEND STAR that she has taken full advantage of the opportunity to the point that she now performs all over the world. “It has been a progressive journey,” Shuga told THE WEEKEND STAR. SINGER SHUGA PREPARING NEW ALBUM AND AN EUROPEAN TOUR!

 Shuga— NOT much has been heard about singer Shuga in recent months. She says she is working on an EP and preparing for a European tour. Shuga has been recording songs with producers Donovan Germain, Paul ‘Computer Paul’ Henton, Rohan ‘Sno Cone’ Fuller and the German company Silly Walks Discotheque label. “Right now I am working on my EP with Penthouse, which VP Records will be releasing at the end of the summer. I have a new single out called Crime Scene (Johnny Dead) which is getting a lot of traction in the tri-state and Jamaica. I will be heading out to Europe for a month on the Get Vocal Tour. GREAT PERFORMANCES CLOSE REBEL SALUTE 2015!

 By Simone Morgan—-  Sizzla & (in the inset) Luciano—– REBEL Salute ended on a high note at Richmond Estate in St Ann yesterday morning. Patrons left the two-day festival musically satisfied. Reggae harmony trio Mighty Diamonds showed exactly what made them hot during the 1970s and ’80s with a well-received set. Their vocals were flawless and sounded no different from their recordings when they belted out the lyrics to Have Mercy, Pass the Kouchie, I Need a Roof and When the Right Time Come. As expected, Freddie McGregor hit his marker on stage and gave his fans a classical set. THE FOURTH ANNUAL INTERNATIONAL REGGAE WINE FESTIVAL IS SET FOR OCTOBER 18, IN MONTEGO BAY!

The event is set for October 18 at the Whitter Village in Montego Bay and is geared towards persons who love the mix of good reggae music and fine wine. SHUGA LAUNCHES GENDER CAMPAIGN FOR FEMALE SINGERS/DJ’s WITH HER HIT SINGLE “RIDE PON DI RIDDIM!”

On her new song, Ride Pon The Riddim, she takes aim at disc jockeys, appealing for equal air-time with male acts. “I think we should just drop off the songs at the library and if the songs are good, they deserve to be played,” Shuga told the Sunday Observer.
