“REGGAE CAN BE USED AS A VEHICLE TO EDUCATE, INFORM AND CHANGE PEOPLE” SAYS NIGERIAN REGGAE STAR VICTOR ESSIET!

A reggae artist, Victor Essiet, popularly known as “The Mandators’’ says that reggae music can be used as a vehicle to educate, inform, change and re-orient people. Essiet told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos on Tuesday that there were different genres of music that people enjoyed, but added that it must educate, inform and help change the populace positively as well as entertain. AFRICA MEETS REGGAE & WORLD MUSIC INTERNATIONAL FESTIVAL, IN NIGERIA, NOVEMBER 26!

EMBATTLED NIGERIAN REGGAE STAR VICTOR ESSIET: CRYING OUT FOR HIS SAFETY!

Since his return last year to Nigeria to organise a concert, the one-time leading reggae icon Victor Essiet has traipsed from one trouble to another. Yinka Olatunbosun reports The Nigerian reggae icon, Victor Essiet, of the Mandators fame is embattled for many reasons. When he returned from the USA in 2014 to stage the mother of all music festivals in Nigeria, Africa Meets Reggae on November 29, he was arrested right inside the venue for the mega show by armed and uniformed men whom he later identified to be men of the Nigeria Police. Popular musician, Victor Essiet of the Mandators Fame was arrested early this morning in Nsit Ubium Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State by the police and has been flown to Lagos State. This information is contrary to the report by the Vanguard Newspaper that he was kidnapped. According to the source, he was allegedly arrested in connection with a contract he had with organisers of a show which he failed to attend.
